Habakkuk asked God over and over again, “WHY?” Is it ever right to question God? Others have done so - Moses, Joshua, Job, Jeremiah, the psalmist and others. Saying, “why?” is natural for little children, but are we not spiritually wiser than to question God? There are two key reasons we would ask God this question. 1) Failure to trust Him and 2) because we cannot see what God sees or know what He alone knows. He wants us to trust Him by faith even when life, from our perspective, is filled with trouble and all seems illogical. Jesus Himself is our example who endured the cross on our behalf for the joy that was soon to be His at the right hand of the throne of God. Knowing the outcome, we also can rejoice in the Lord (1 Peter 1:6; 4:13; Philippians 4:4; 1 Thessalonians 5:16).
