Our History

Bethany Bible church began in 1983, though it wasn't incorporated unitl 1984, with Paul Travis as the first pastor. Its early emphasis was on biblical preaching, missions, and evangelism. AWANA was one of its earliest outreaches.

In 1984, the church began looking for property to build on. The lot on Chadwick Ave. was discovered, bought, and by Easter 1985, paid for. On April, 1984, after the morning worship service, ground was broken for the new building. The building was completed and dedicated in 1987.
Among the pastors who later served at Bethany were Bill Jones, Aaron Burk, and Greg Stiekes.

Bill Jones now serves as the senior director of the New York Gospel Ministries, an outreach that seeks to win to Christ the various people groups in the city through food and care. Bill also serves as the senior pastor of Manor Community Church in Manhattan.

Aaron Burk now serves as the Program Director for The Anchorage, a Christian camp in Lake Waccamaw, NC.

Greg Stiekes is now a teaching professor at Bob Jones University, in the seminary.
