The gospels record frequent times of prayer as a part of Jesus' life and ministry. However, although we have many of his sermons and parables recorded for us, there is only one lengthy prayer recorded in John 17. What makes this prayer so special? Why is this the real Lord's prayer as opposed to the model prayer he taught his disciples? What is the significance of this prayer and why did Jesus pray it?
