Three times in Zephaniah, the prophet predicts the complete destruction of the world, an event called the "Day of the Lord." Throughout the book, other manifestations of the day of the Lord are described that foreshadow the ultimate day. Though not all of the details of the prophecy can be sorted out, the overall message of the book is clear. The day of the Lord is coming in which He will destroy the proud and deliver the humble. Therefore, humble yourself before the Lord.
