In the days of Israel’s judges, everyone did what was right in his own eyes, for there was no king to lead (Judges 17:6; 21:25). This was a time of severe spiritual darkness in the nation’s history, a time in which the morality of the people spiraled downward generation after generation. Yet, by observing this era in Israel, we see our own tendencies to wander from the Lord, and are duly warned.
