The antidote to false doctrine is always the true Word of God. Therefore, having warned Timothy of the dangerous nature of the false teachers (2:14-3:13), Paul now takes time to exalt the supreme Word of God: its efficacy (3:14-15), its sufficiency (3:16-17), and its urgency (4:1-4).
