Paul refers to Christians as children of the light not of the darkness. He describes the duties of those who are children of the light as well as their ultimate destiny in relation to the day of the Lord. As he prepares to leave the Thessalonian believers with some final instructions, he reminds them of who they are and how that reality should impact their daily lives.

Two of the greatest questions on the minds of people are addressed in 1 Thessalonians chapters 4 and 5. What happens after death and what will happen at the end of the world? Paul not only addresses these two questions but explains that our relationship with Jesus Christ is the key to being ready for both of these inevitable events.

Jesus instructed his disciples in John 14 that he would be leaving to prepare a place for them. Afterwards, he would come again to take them to be with him. However, what happens to Christians who have died in the meantime? What will it be like when Jesus does return for his children?
