The one supremely important event in all of history was the death of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and God wants us to REMEMBER. This is a major reason why Christ instituted the LORD'S Table. When we partake of the elements, we do so in remembrance of what Christ did on our behalf (1 Corinthians 11:24, 25). We observe the in obedience to the LORD'S command so that we might never forget what He did for us on Calvary's Cross. There is no other single event in all of history that comes close to the importance of Christ's death.
