   Paul's Benedication for the Thessalonians
   2 Thessalonians 3:16-18
Sunday School,  August 18, 2013
As Paul closed his second letter to the Thessalonians he wanted them to experience the peace and presence of the Lord. The topics he addressed in this letter did not offer the world's kind of peace. Persecution, a phony letter with wrong information, and a person(s)in the fellowship living an unruly life, when dealt with biblically, would result with God's true peace. The letter was authentic and authoritative based on the token his personal signature.

   A Diseased Heart
   Jeremiah 17:9
Sunday Afternoon Service,  June 23, 2013

God declares the heart of man to be so thoroughly corrupted by sin, that there is no cure but a new heart. The grace of God offers the cure by the sacrifice of Jesus for our sins. After we have a new heart, God instructs us how to have a spiritually healthy heart by the right diet, exercise, and timely examinations. Too many believers enjoy the new heart, but do not want to follow God's guidance for a healthy heart and glorify Him.

   1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Sunday School,  February 24, 2013
Paul wrote to comfort the Thessalonians by sharing with them the revelation God had given him. Those in Christ who died would not be at a disadvantage when Jesus came for His saints. At the rapture, the dead in Christ would rise first and then those alive would be caught up together with them in the clouds. Believing this truth offered them the comfort they needed so they would not sorrow as those with no hope. This is God's word to us today.

Jesus gave us this historical, memorial, and evangelical ordinance to consider the past, present, and future blessings so that we might draw close to Him.

Thanksgiving Day and True Giving of Thanks
   Hebrews 13:15
Special Service,  November 20, 2012

Can an unsaved person offer true thanksgiving to God? The writer to the Hebrew Christians answers the question in this text. Only the believer-priest can offer true thanksgiving to God because it requires a right standing before God. Those who are justified by faith alone have this standing. The writer also encourages those who are saved to respond in words of praise and works of compassion as the fruit of a regenerated heart. Christians have to chose to offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually.
