   Love the Brethren
   Romans 12:9-11
Sunday Morning Service,  March 22, 2015

Nobody likes a fake. It disgusts us to be taken by someone or something that is not the real thing. While it is not fun to find out that what something is fake, it is much more disturbing to find out that someone is fake. Paul warns of this in Romans 12:9. We live in a world (even in our Christian circles) where people are taught how to put on a good face, hide your true colors and manipulate a situation. Teens and children hear their parents talking and learn firsthand how to fake a love for certain people in the church. Here Paul is warning against that kind of love. He starts by giving two direct overriding statements that characterize genuine love.

   Perspective in Suffering
   2 Corinthians 4-5
Sunday Morning Service,  November 17, 2013

Nobody enjoys heartache, difficulty, or suffering. However, Scripture gives us a clear picture regarding how we should think when difficulty crosses our path. Every believer will face multiple times in their life when they are faced with responding to trials of life. Our perspective on suffering should be informed by the truths of Scripture. Failure to interpret difficulty through the lens of Scripture will result in despair, depression, and even bitterness. A perspective on suffering informed by truth will result in courage, change, and joy in the life of the believer.

   Life Equals ?
   Ecclesiastes 1-2
Sunday Morning Service,  September 9, 2012

What is “living the life?” Whatever happiness truly is; whatever “living the life” really is, there are many people pursuing it and there are many people failing in that pursuit. Statistics estimate that there are nearly 20 million depressed people in America. That statistic is not surprising considering 35,000 Americans commit suicide every year. That is approximately 95 people a day. In the first two chapters of Ecclesiastes, Solomon is going to illustrate this overarching statement (that it is all vanity) by detailing for us at least six areas of life that do not bring happiness.

   God's Gracious Gifts
   Romans 12:3-8
Sunday School,  November 11, 2007

Paul starts this section (12:1-2) with a challenge to commitment based on God's mercies. In verses 3-8 we see the futility of boasting in what God has graciously given us. Three main thoughts will be discussed: 1) There is no sense in boasting over God's gracious gifts. 2) God has blessed us all uniquely with His gifts. 3) We should be seeking to use our gifts for God's glory.

   Characteristics of a Champion
   Nehemiah 1-2
Sunday Afternoon Service,  June 10, 2007

We read in Scripture of many men and women that God used to accomplish His work. One such champion is Nehemiah. After years of the Jerusalem walls lying in ruin, God uses Nehemiah to see the walls rebuilt in just 52 days. Was it coincidence that God used Nehemiah or were there certain characteristics in Nehemiah's life that allowed him to be so used of God? We will examine these characteristics in our message.

   Lessons from a Godly Mother
   2 Timothy 1:1-5; 3:14-15
Sunday Afternoon Service,  May 13, 2007

We learn much in Scripture regarding the men God chose to use. Timothy was one of those men. We learn of his close relationship to Paul as Paul's "beloved son." We learn of Timothy's service to the Lord from Paul's commendation in Philippians 2:19-22. However, we gain additional insight into Timothy's life that we don't learn about many other men in the Bible. Scripture gives us a look into the life of his godly mother, Eunice.
